Prompt Post #1

Full rules here.

  • The short of it: you leave a comment containing a prompt, people reply to that with a work based on it.
  • Prompts must be posted as a comment to the active prompt post, one prompt per comment. You can prompt anonymously or not, with or without a DW account.
  • All comments containing prompts should be a top-level comment (= not a reply to another comment)
  • Prompts can contain a ship (romantic or not) or they can be gen (we use the "&" format for platonic relationships in this house because it's convenient).
  • Prompts can be as detailed or as vague as you want. Be sure to specify triggers or squicks you don't want to see, if you have any.
  • You can post as many prompts as you like, but not repost prompts that have already been made (slightly different versions of other prompts are exempt from this rule).
  • NSFW and kinky prompts are allowed, as well as prompts containing sensitive topics. While there are technically no limitations on content, please be mindful of others and put some form of warning either in the text or the subject line if you're going to outline rape/noncon, death, explicit violence or homo/transphobia in your prompt, e.g: a simple mention like "noncon" or a prompt that's not too detailed like "recovering from rape" wouldn't warrant an additional content warning, while a prompt that describes a transphobic attack would. Additional warnings are welcome, but not required. Use empathy and your best judgement. Mods can add warnings to prompts that are missing them at their own discretion.
  • Comments that are directly under prompts should only be fills, but you can leave replies about the works to the comments containing the fills

FtM!Sirius/Remus, bonding over their respective "secrets"

[FtM!Sirius/Remus] bonding over their respective "secrets"

(Anonymous) 2020-06-08 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)

I wrote this on a whim—not edited but I hope you enjoy this, anon! Ended up writing ~311 words when I should be sleeping, oops. Might write more in the future because I'm suddenly in love with FtM!Sirius/Remus aaahh

"I hope I'm not overstepping but..." Remus trails off, trying to gauge his friend's expressions and to predict his possible reactions. He sets his quill down on top of the star map that they were studying, and prays to every wizard he knows for his idea to not blow up back in his face. "Sirius Black."

His friend freezes, tense as the essay he's holding flutters down onto the table. The reaction makes Remus's heart seize in panic that he might have hurt and offended him by overstepping a boundary—

"Say it again."

A pause.

Did he hear that right?

"...Sirius."

"Again. Please."

Remus exhales shakily. "Is this okay, Sirius?"

"Sirius," he repeats, voice coated in awe. His eyes widen and he shakes his head, almost in disbelief. "Hi, my name—my name is Sirius Black. I'm Sirius Black and my name comes from... from the brightest star in the Canis Major constellation..."

"And it's brighter than any star in the sky, brighter than every single star in Bellatrix and Andromeda. And definitely brighter than Aludra," Remus says giddily. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Sirius Black."

The smile he's given is blinding—full of such life and such overflowing joy that he can't help but move out of his seat towards Sirius. His friend surges forward meet him in the middle, his eyes filled with unshed tears and gratefulness that tugs at Remus's heartstrings. Remus holds him close, basking in the warm feeling of affection blooming in his chest.

His friend pulls back with a wide smile, turning to grasp at his star chart and flip it over. He snatches Remus's quill and dips it into an open inkpot. Remus leans over his shoulder curiously just as he scribbles over his old and dead name.

'Aludra W. Black'

Sirius writes underneath it in a bigger, louder, and prouder font.

'Sirius O. Black'

Tonks/Remus, NB coming out, SFW or NSFW welcome

(Anonymous) 2020-06-08 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
NB or genderfluid Tonks/cis bi Lupin; I'd love to see them explaining to Remus about their identity near the start of their relationship and Remus being sweet, loving, accepting about it.
If it's SFW, I'm happy. If I ends up in NSFW territory I'm happy. Tonks having any body type/genitals in NSFW context is fine considering shapeshifting.

Pregnancy and in-depth discussion about it is a squick/DNW! Mention of birth control is ok

Any Gryffindor student, the enchanted stairs

(Anonymous) 2020-06-10 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
I just want something based around an MtF character being able to enter the girls' dormitories or an FtM character not being able to. They can feel relieved and validated or you can have them deal with being forcibly outed in front of everyone in the common room, etc. Would prefer a happy tone but bittersweet or even angsty is good. No overt violence against them, though, please.

Hey! I went for a minor character in Harry's year, I hope that's okay~

--

Fay Dunbar was nervous.
Her chosen name had turned up on the Hogwarts letter, and been called out at Sorting - so far so good.
But her mother had warned her before she came.

"The girl's dormitories don't let boys enter. I don't know what the magic 'counts' as a boy - so you might have an issue when you try to get to bed."

She'd thought about it for weeks. She'd lost sleep. She barely touched the food after Sorting, terrified people would find out.

"You could just tell them up front, maybe?" her father had suggested.
He was always supportive. They both were.
But she knew already it was best not to put a target on her back the first day there. She'd encountered enough Muggles with foul reactions to know as much.
(Only three times had she been targeted for it - but even one was enough.)

There was a lot of commotion in the common room, hubbub, friendly chatter.
Much too busy to try it. She'd wait until it was a lot emptier.

She made friends - chatted, got as comfortable as she could be. And time passed. The common room quietened down as hours went by.
Half the girls in her year were off upstairs already. She was left with new her friend, chatting about Quidditch, and figuring out how to start the conversation.
No better way than to just blurt it out, right?

"So, can I be up front with you? I might have a bit of a hassle getting into the girl's dorms."

Her friend raised an eyebrow.
"How come? You're a Gryffindor, now, what's the problem?"

Fay lowered her voice.
"Can you keep a secret? It's important to me that you do."
When she was met with a sincere nod, Fay leaned in.
"I'm trans. I was born a boy. My parents have helped me with magic but- I don't know if the stairs care that I don't look like one any more."

Her friend pulled back and looked at her closely. Fay's chest tightened - was this it? Rejection, on the first night? She steeled herself. Bravery, right? This was why she was sitting here.

"I won't tell a soul. If the stairs give you any problems, I'll help you cover it up, and we'll go straight to Professor McGonagall and get it fixed."

Fay felt like fainting from relief. She hugged her new friend tight, and was squeezed back, patted reassuringly.
"Thank you so much."

"You don't need to thank me."

They bided their time until there were only a handful of older students still in the common room.
"Do you wanna chance it even with the others here?" she whispered to Fay.

"I'm getting pretty tired, so, yeah. Sorry for keeping you up so late."

"Worth it."

Fay grinned, and squeezed her hand, before taking the first step.
Then the second.
Third.
Fourth.
On the fifth, she finally breathed out, turned back.

"...I think I'm okay?"

Her friend nodded enthusiastically, beaming from ear to ear.
"Keep going!" she urged, taking the first step behind her.

Fay kept climbing, kept ascending, finding herself finally on the first landing where their dorm room was.
She wanted to yell in elation, to whoop and holler that she'd been allowed, she'd been recognised, but she didn't want to wake up her dorm mates - didn't want to alert them that there was even a remote possibility she wouldn't have been able to.

But her new friend knew, and saw the smile on her face, and joined her in a celebratory hug.
"You're allowed. You belong here."

"I do. I actually do."

OP here, just now seeing this!

This is so great, anon, thank you! :D I love that you chose an existing minor character, makes it feel that much more true to the source (even though... yeah). I also love that she has support around her and that her new friend even offered to get the problem fixed if necessary, immediately recognizing that it WOULD BE a problem in need of fixing. And of course the fact that Fay is validated in the end and gets to feel the sense of belong she deserves... I'm smiling so hard, thank you again!
